Inspirational People You Need to Stalk – Neil Patel

August 23, 2017 By Bostjan Leave a Comment

It’s the 58th minute of the 90 or so minute interview with Neil Patel, and I’ve paused it and started cursing for the 4th time in a row. “Fuck, how does that guy just find solutions to these complex questions so quickly? It’s insane!”

Enter Neil Patel, a skinny nerd dating models and making it rain whenever he choses to. If things like having a private driver (and a car) for free, hacking your dating life, and sipping tea with billionaires in order to have them throw money at you sound good, then you should get to know Neil.

I just heard about him at first. This smart dude, who’s got a few businesses that deal with marketing etc. Good for him. But then I randomly decided to check up on him. Maybe he’s got something good to say, you never know.

I check up Youtube, I wasn’t in the mood for articles. The first video is obviously a collaboration with Tai Lopez. Tai is everywhere, the good of Youtube marketing, haha. The video is pretty good, but there’s too many books in the shot, and Tai only leaves 9min of content, and tries to sell the rest of “the good stuff”. But Neil said enough to hook me a little.

Then I saw the 20min Tim Ryan interview. I read the first comment: “But then I saw a short 20min interview with him on Youtube. The first comment under said:

Jesus Christ stop cutting him off man. Literally in the middle of sentences as he’s about to drop some knowledge. And I agreed with it through the video, although the content was still a huge improvement from Tai’s.

Extra meat here, checking out the most liked comments on Youtube before the video can be beneficial. Either they’ll tell you something you should know, or they’ll make you laugh at least.

Anyway, the 3rd video, the Mindvalley interview hosted by Vishen Lakhiani was a jackpot. It is insane. INSANE! You get to know Neil is making all that cream and is not even 30 yet (or wasn’t at the time – 2 years ago). That’s what gets us all right? Boobs or money. Well, Neil certainly has the latter. And from then on, almost everything he says is a valuable lesson.

  • He choose his college based on where it would be impossible to fail for him.
  • He got into the Obama’s top 100 entrepreneur list by nominating himself.
  • He lost a million bucks because his heart was too large and his mind too naive.
  • He could win a lawsuit with 98% certainty, but decided to “settle” it instead, because it was cheaper.

And those are just a few, I’m telling you. Take any 5 minutes from the interview and you will be blown away. The interviewer Vishen is also very on point, and steers the conversation in the right topics (them being friends helps).

It would make no sense in me trying to transcribe what he said – you should see the video for that. But there’s definitely some things that are radically different about Neil compared to other more mainstream people we “should” be motivated by.

He’s big on critical thinking and out of the box solutions. For example, he’s not trying to get from point A to B to C. He prefers to skip the B if at all possible. Which is easily said, but more difficult to do.

He’s using emotional intelligence and psychology way more that either of us. He’s be completely fine with being “the bitch” in an alpha male’s company in order to secure a deal. Or play hard to get with a billionaire after he’s established relatability and rapport.

He believes that how “loved” you are, and your ability to network, will make you more money in the long run (compared to say being super techy or THE world authority – not that those are bad, but you get the point).

And now back to my “Oh, Fuck!” moments. It’s the Q & A part, and audience is shooting some great questions:

  • “How would you market artwork?”
  • “How would you market a dating app?”
  • “What’s the next best thing after content marketing?”

Big, complex questions. I’d take 15min to try to answer them. He gives you concrete tactics and ideas in 2 minutes and a few sentences. It’s insane, I’m telling you.

The speed of the creativity and problem solving, coupled with massive experience and insatiable passion for work, Neil Patel is definitely on the list of inspirational people you need to stalk.
