Boss Life Hacks Just Got Started Today

January 4, 2016 By Bostjan 8 Comments

I´ve postponed this moment for quite some time now. The moment when I actually go public, when I stop hiding and caring too much about whether people will judge me negatively. Stopped worrying about not being successful and not making it. The moment when I started caring more about actually giving some value to people, reaching out, sharing things.

And then I figured, that this is also the moment when things become much more fun. Where I find more drive, motivation and energy. More happiness, fulfillment, ideas. It´s only when you become vulnerable that you can bring out the best in you.

I tell this often to people who want to appear tough. Yes, by being tough you will protect yourself from a degree of negative emotions. But you will also block the positive ones. By being vulnerable you open yourself to everything, the good and the bad, and all the shades in between. It rocks. You can feel and experience much more. And connect with more people and the deepest parts of yourself. And then share without your inner censor troubling you.

Allow yourself to be a bit more vulnerable,

    I can definitely relate.

Starting my fitness blog a few months ago as well as developing my personal brand in the fitness industry meant putting myself out there and becoming vulnerable.

What really helped me accept the fact that I might face critique and setbacks was the idea of being promotion-oriented instead of prevention-oriented.

Once you stop trying to maintain an image you can finally have some fun, too.

Yeah, if you went through similar things it´s easy to relate. Could you elaborate on the promotion-oriented a bit? I think I understand it – putting more focus on how to put out more stuff, produce more content. But sometimes you post something and nobody even sniffs at it, or it´s not as popular as you´d like. Kinnda know how to deal with this from game, but would still appreciate a good tip or two.

Yeah, I’ll try to elaborate a bit. Promotion-oriented people focus on growth and possibilities. They see mistakes as learning opportunities. They’re risk takers. Prevention-oriented people are risk averse, they always focus on what could go wrong and see mistakes as something bad and fear them.

Fear is of course there to keep us safe. The thing is, in our day and age all we risk by putting ourselves out there is our public image which is just an abstraction – it doesn’t really exist. So if you think about it, if we’re willing to detach from our ego, there really is no downside in making ourselves vulnerable on the internet (and in real life).

As far as our work not getting noticed, I’d say it comes down to creating valuable, engaging things and marketing.

Wow, there are some real words of wisdom there, thank you for that, will keep it in mind. And yeah, the abstract image itself is a pure mindfuck, damn.

I’ve known you for quite some time and you always struck me as a person who will not content with something average. Now that I see how much experience you accumulated, I hope you get your stories out there! You deserve success man, because I feel you still stayed true to yourself and remained the Beli playa I remember.

    Best of luck,

    Peter D.
